Jurassic World Evolution 2 review - A solid sequel

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the sequel to the dinosaur park simulator beloved by players. The guys at Friv2Online listened to user complaints about the original and significantly improved the formula that worked, but can this be called an evolution? I will try to answer this question in the review.

The first Jurassic World Evolution impressed the audience with an interesting idea of ​​​​a park with dinosaurs - the game offers not only to rebuild pens and put animals there for money, but also to engage in bioengineering, buy out entire islands and watch a fun commotion when a predator breaks the fence.

The sequel takes us back to dangerous places and offers to look after an unusual park again. Several interesting modes are presented - for example, the single-player campaign continues the plot of Jurassic World 2. Spoiler alert: at the end, the ancient predators broke free and filled the whole world, and people had to live side by side with them.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 will take you through the snowy forests of Washington DC, the deserts of Arizona, scenic Pennsylvania and other beautiful places where escaped dinosaurs must be captured and safely sheltered.

The campaign turned out to be unforgivably short (only 5 missions, each one for an hour at most), but it allows you to walk around different parts of the globe. The original, however, locked us in the archipelago, the views of which quickly bored. Another nice detail is that we are accompanied by various characters of the film, for example, the bright protagonist of the films, Claire Dearing. I am glad that they received Russian voice acting.

Another interesting mode is "Chaos Theory", also associated with films. It poses the question “what if…?” and offers to go through missions based on previous films, in which we are allowed to correct the mistakes of the heroes of the films or leave everything as it is. The rest of the "Test" and "Sandbox" modes turned out without surprises - the first sets difficult conditions for passing, and the second unties his hands and allows you to do whatever you want.

At its core, Jurassic World Evolution 2 has a unique gameplay that is different from the classic "tycoons". We are offered to rebuild a park with dinosaurs, placing pens and various buildings, but the predators will not come to us at the first call - first they need to be found, put to sleep with tranquilizers, transported to an aviary, and only then do their usual care.

At such moments, the friv game turns from strategy to first-person adventure - you can become a helicopter pilot, then explore the surrounding areas (the locations turned out to be really huge), and after finding the target, take a rifle and shoot the poor animal. Naturally, sleeping pills.

They also let you sit behind the wheel of a small truck and complete small missions to track down predators and visually inspect them in enclosures. Such mechanics significantly dilute the boring life of the caretaker, allow you to watch dinosaurs in their natural habitat and arrange a virtual safari for yourself.
But back to the heart of the game, the dinosaurs. The local bestiary will satisfy any fan of paleontology - there are wild Baryonyx, and pretty Triceratops, and carnivorous carnotaurs... In total, over 75 species are represented, some of which are to be bred with the help of genetic engineering.

Dinosaurs are rich not only in variety, but also in appearance - each model is replete with details, has a unique character and habits, and watching their life will be interesting for those who have not watched a single program on Discovery. Here, for example, a carnotaurus hunts for defenseless prey and overtakes it:
Each predator will require special care - various vegetation, ponds and feeders can be placed in the paddock. Moreover, thanks to the improved interface, the reaction of the animal to changes is monitored in real time. At the same time, dinosaurs can escape by breaking fences and get various injuries - and you thought the job was going to be easy for you?

I liked that they added air and water predators, which was also lacking in the original. In general, in the game you can notice a lot of such "minor" innovations - I note, for example, fuel electric generators, which now do not need to be stretched to each building, thus spoiling the appearance of the park, and scientists with different characteristics who will be engaged in excavations and expeditions. Thus, a proven idea has acquired content, which cannot but rejoice.

The authors of Jurassic World Evolution 2 also did a great job of fixing the bugs. Those who have this game is the first in the series will not notice them, but the fans will definitely appreciate them. So, a vitally necessary rewind of time appeared, the tedious search for DNA disappeared, the inconvenient reputation system was removed, and it became easier to place buildings, because. they are no longer disturbed by a barely noticeable twig. The interface is practical, and the animal information panel has become clearer. These small details make the friv game much more comfortable than its predecessor.

Not without drawbacks. The main one was borrowed from the original - a strange economy. Work to improve it was carried out (for example, visitors are now divided into interest groups), but in the process of passing I did not even pay attention to the funds - they drip from somewhere, go somewhere. The economy is painfully simple and not interesting.

Another disadvantage is a lot of routine work, which for some reason was not automated. So, from time to time they are required to refuel generators and replenish food supplies, independently set tasks for staff and other boring things. All this can be put on the machine, and the game will not lose anything.

All in all, Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a solid sequel that is heading towards the perfect formula. There is no height here, but there is a width - there are more dinosaurs, fewer inconvenient game elements, and story modes are closely related to films, which fans will appreciate. There are shortcomings, but it's safe to say that today no other game will introduce you to prehistoric predators better than this one.
