Who will claim the Iron Throne?

While there are many questions to be answered (and I can't stress this enough HBO... we just have to know!), the key battle for the Iron Throne has to end one way or another. The intra-family wars and ever-changing forces have led to such an unpredictable outcome, just like roulette.

As the different fates of each character differed, the list of possible final winners grew and shrank alternately over the years. With only a few months to go before we finally find out what happens, here are the bookies' favorites.

Who is likely to rule Westeros, the probabilities are:

Bran Stark (11/10 William Hill)
Jon Snow (6/1 SkyBet).
Any child of Daenerys Targaryen (8/1 SkyBet)
Sansa Stark (9/1 10 Bet)
Any child by Jon Snow (9/1 SkyBet)
King of the Night (10/1 William Hill)
Tyrion Lannister (10/1 BetVictor)
Daenerys Targaryen (12/1 SkyBet)
Arya Stark (20/1 Unibet)
Gendry (20/1 Unibet)
Cersei Lannister (25/1 SkyBet)

As we get closer to the first episode, speculation about who will survive the series and end up on the Iron Throne is getting wilder. On 13 January, HBO released a second teaser trailer, which has already been viewed more than 23 million times on YouTube. Fans have watched every frame in the clip, looking for the slightest clue as to what's to come.

Since its release, the odds offered by bookies have changed dramatically. While only Jon Snow, Sansa, and Arya Stark are the only characters, the person considered to be the ultimate ruler of Westeros - at least according to the bookmakers - seems to be Bran Stark. This is all based on a fan theory that has been gaining popularity since season seven: that Bran Stark and the King of the Night are the same people.

Bran Stark

Rewinding the clock a few years would seem crazy to suggest that Bran Stark, the paralyzed but increasingly mysterious Prince of Winterfell, would one day rule everything. However, when he grows up at the Three-Eyed Raven in season 7, everything about the young man seems to change.

A fan theory has emerged, which is quickly cemented, that he and the King of the Night are one and the same person. The full theory is rather complicated, but it revolves around the creation of the White Walkers by the Children of the Forest. The appearance of bird feathers in several key scenes, as well as last season's teaser trailer, have been used as evidence that Bran Stark is at the center of all the unanswered mysteries. Whether or not the near-pairing odds offered by the bookies bring in the big bucks, though, time will tell.

Jon Snow

Jon Snow's rise from bastard to the night watchman. As well as from the dead who will be dramatically resurrected. Jon Snow, portrayed by Kit Harrington, is one of the fans' favorite characters and the most talked-about character in the series. In season seven he fought to save everyone from the White Walkers, getting closer and closer to Daenerys. The two have long been favorites for the final rulers of the Iron Throne, as the title of the original Song of Ice and Flame book series could well refer to the two characters.

Daenerys Targaryen

At the end of season 7, the two stories of Jon and Daenerys were completely merged. In a dramatic double revelation, the pair were sleeping together when it was revealed to viewers that Jon was in fact her nephew. Either this fact or a new belief in Branagh's identity, has caused Jon and Dany to fall sharply from the top of the bookies' favorites list. However, both characters and the children of either have often been advertised as the characters most often repeated at defining moments in the story.
